Teflon spools

Postby davie495 » Mon Feb 06, 2017 11:52 am

after a few sessions now with my new conti set up, i am begining to get more and more into it. the only draw back is with weedy venues, the small eyes cannot cope at all (yes i can hear you all, fish Braid straight through, 1000000lb Breaking Strain for 4 miles of braid for 5p on ebay). However as yet, i am still a mono man with leader..

That said, the 2 spools i got with my FS reel are loaded with mono (10lb asso, and 16 lb asso).. both with tapered leaders

I am now looking at some extra spools to go with it. some with braid (30lb BS) some with higher BS braid etc.

Seen these and they look the mutts nuts http://www.seamatchfishing.co.uk/shop/4572057510/teflon-spools---improved-design/9688888 certainly a lot lighter than the stock spools

So the question is, anyone used them?, or had any feedback on them?, or do i go with the Shimano extra spool with line reducers (£30 ish) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHIMANO-SPARE-SPOOL-ULTEGRA-14000-XTD-/222285618749

granted not a great deal difference in price...

The teflon spools look very shallow compared to the Shimano spools.I haven't used them but I always have visions of the line flying off causing wind knots.
