Fished Hightown river alt estuary 1.5 before and 1.5 after hight tide no bites detected at all quite low tide, there were several cormorants making the most of it and coming up after each dive with what looked like small eels or sandeel, had a look on ebay for cheap cormorants but none for sale, looks like I will have to befriend one down here. Nice venue with good parking nearby and easy access, speaking to friends who fish here more often and regularly catch flounder and eels, they have also blanked here recently hopefully will pick up with the warmer weather. Two rods with one up one down rigs 1 hooks. Used a carp rod today and this was ideal for this venue, the beachcaster was a bit too heavy you only cast about 40 - 50 metres at most.

me, richie,cat and prawn fished today flounder were the target species 4 1/2 hours of standing in the cold catching nothing. although 3 lads with carp rods came late on and one of them did manage to catch 2 small ones on lug. l think it was a bit early in the year for the big ones but it was great to be out.

The odds were stacked against us, lowest high tide but it was a nice sunny day so we left early, managed to get a shed load of live blow lug at Hall Rd to add to the black and squid, just as well, 2 flounders both on live blow and big enough for the pan, 1 eel about 2ft on black lug and squid also missed a few bites and a couple unhooked, first time fishing hightown, enjoyed it in the little time you get.

had some worms left over from hall road parked up at 8.45 am unpacked it poured down! windy as well rod rest blew over lost a side cover on the shimano it neads a service caught weed my first mersey goldfish.! had a good fight from a 2ft long piece of plastic theres always next time! Noddynigel106

Fished 2 up and 2 down. Very rough - bite detection almost impossible. Noticed a knock 20 minutes before high and pulled in a flounder 1lb then nothing until 30 minutes after high then another flounder about 1lb. Gave up when the wind and rain blew me off the beach!!!

fished 3 up and 1 down with my mate pete (who blanked). very cold day. i got 2 bites and 2 fish, a 1 lb flounder and a three bearded rockling. never fished there before, but will do again. also thanks to the very helpfull guy i met on the beach at ainsdale, who gave me some much needed advice on using my worm pump

Fished from about 10 am today tide on it s way up to 8 meters Fished hard for a couple of hours with fly rod nothing! i wasnt that surprised. Fished 20 yds from the sewer outlet wiith Rob Page from 12.45pm til 4.15pm....pretty quiet for the first couple of hours,then had 3 small flounder just after the ebb...was`nt until the channel had really dropped that the bigger fish started to feed...finished with 8 to 1-6-8...Rob struggled from a peg further to the left,but jumped in to my spot after i`d gone and bagged one on his last chuck.........if you have`nt fished here before,don`t be in a hurry to leave if it`s quiet....the fish often feed very well late in the ebb.

Fished the river Alt for the first time on Sunday 6th. .Left of the boat yard next to the outfall pipe. Fished 2 hours before high tide and 2 1/2 hours on the ebb, caught 4 plump Flounders one the flood the rest on the ebb. Bait was frozen Mackerel and frozen Shrimp Fished 2 rods one with a 3 hook flapper rig with fine wire Aberdeen hooks the on the other Rod used a shop bought rig with day glow beads and break beak hooks all fish caught on the 3 hook flapper.

fished river alt by an old sewer outlet from 2hrs before high and for a hour after this morning. The wind was howling so sea was a tad choppy. Caught only 1 pin whiting but enjoyed day until my reel broke going to try again in few weeks.

Fished further up on Formby beach, all day on low and night on high. Not a sniff. Struggled in the dark, with me being the only one with a headlamp. Oh yer some bird decided to go for a swim with her fella and three dogs then strip off and get changed next to our gear. strange people, weird. sorry no pics of that!!

Four of us fished a BLAS match today. Just after we started fishing, Stuart & Wendy both caught a Flounder apiece.............Then that was it..................... until the Ebb. As the tide dropped down the Beach. I caught a Flounder and then an Eel. Millsy also caught the same. Wendy had another Two Flounders & a 2lb+ Eel. The weather was great, but the fishing could have been a lot better.

fished the alt this morning with kev,millsy and stu. fished from high down to low.sport was very slow with no bite's for the first few hours,kev slotted a few lid's but i did let him have the hotspot this time.stu reeled in to re-bait and found he had a flounder on so that dont count ;-] me and milsy were blanking good style till 15 minutes before we were leaving my rod came into life then i got snagged on a bouy with a flounder flapping,pulled for the brake and bagged me a fish.weather was cloudy at first then it was cracking the pebbles,oh yeah before i forget millsy blanked.

Fished from 8am til noon with Lee1317,Millsy,Steve Duffy and Sven.....the tide was a bit small for this venue,but there was still enough decent flounders for a bit of fun. Lee took the honours with 7......give it another month and go armed with crab and you`ll murder them.

Fished the alt today with big kev,millsy and steve duffy. weather was overcast with a few clear spells. Started fishing low water into the channel 20yrd cast only. First hour was slow then the fish started feeding, flounder were the quarry of the day. Sven turned up, better late than bluecat ;-] everyone was catching apart from kev untill the end when he bagged a bin lid which then allowed us to go home. LOL turned up for a chat in the last hour with his mad dog. Fishing was good, banter was a laff again. Nice to meet a few new faces. This is a nice venue to fish, 1000 yrd walk to the venue and a 20/30 yrd lob will get you into the fish. Hope to be back soon when the bin lids are like wheelie bin lids. total fish caught 18 including kev's 1. best fish 1-6-8

Looked at the weather this afternoon and had a quick look at the tide book decsision made i will fish my home venue and favourite spot on the Alt. Got there about 2.00pm high was at 16.35 and set up two light rods for a bit of an experiment. Rod 1 with the usual 1up 1down rig baited with lug fished static. Rod 2 Wishbone rig 2oz Rolling lead baited with Mackerel. Afew knocks on the static lug but nothing hittable upto about 3.00pm then first fish to the lug 12 oz Flounder then nought. Picked up the rolling lead jobby with the Mackerel and inched it in about 20yrds out it was nearly ripped out my hand result Flounder in good nick just under 2lb , missed a few more ferocious bites on the wishbone still nought on the lug upto high but three more decent flats to wishbone rolling rig. A very enjoyable few hours at this underrated venue and it was nice to fish with light gear instead of ripping tides, big leads , hooks and bait that seem to dominate the winter fishing for all of us, Tight Lines,

Fished 2 hours either side of high water with Lee....not living up to it`s usual standard,with only 5 flounders for me (2 of those were tea bags),and 1 flounder and 1 eel for lee.Two other lads there were using lug only and blanked.

Fished the 2nd leg of the Estuary Cup with the Blas crew....12 fished and only one blanked,but returns were pretty disappointing for here.....Wendy McNair took 6 flounder and 1 eel to win the cup......i came 2nd with 2 eels and 2 flounder,with the biggest fish of the day,weighing 1-7-0,42cm....others had 1 or 2 flounders....nice day in the sun though.

Fished from 2pm til 6pm with Sven.....quiet start,then just as the tide turned we both had a flounder each.We thought the fish would continue to feed on the flood,but apart from 4 missed bites between us,there was no more action.....maybe the recent rains have pushed them out to sea.......

Fished from 10.30am til 3.30pm with Damo,Sven Bluecat and Karl....the recent rains appeared to have affected the flounder action,but there was still plenty of fish feeding.Good size flounders and eels took crab baits.Damo took the fish of the day with a 2lb 5oz flounder.....there`ll be some might big bin lids from this mark near the end of the year,before they go to spawn
