Hi guys,managed to get out there and get 4 packs of fresh yellow and black on the 11/11/09 and decided to give the next day ago on the evening tide at the customs building on the mersey.. within the first hour the rod had been rattling like mad with the culprates being medium sized whiting. so changed tactics and decided to make a sausage and elasticate a bit of cuttle fish at the end, the rod pulled down then slack then down again so tightened up and i was rewarded with this nice plate sized coddie..

fished on the 22/23 both days on the thursday 20 whiting between michael and myself and on the friday 9 whiting between myself and craig plenty of bites both days most of the fish were only pin whiting couple over the pond mark but all went back and we are waiting for mum and dad(lol) roll on the cod as things are picking up well much better than last year lets hope this is a good omen it was brill on friday with the flypast as a backdrop on the day brilliant you cant beat the mersey for fish and scenerary

Arrived 1 hour before high tide which was @ 11pm. Gale force winds, absolute torrent of a current, weight couldn't grip anything. Total blank. Left 1 hour after high tide. This is about the 6th time ive blanked with mackerel in as many weeks. Going to try black lug next.

caught about 17 dabs. 11 whiting and 1 codling all on squid tipped off with a little bit of black lug. a good session overall and might be going tomorrow it was that good!!. no sign of any cod though, needs to be a little bit colder for the cod

booked the charter for 12 but got let down so me an paul ended up booking the charter oursels,fished from 1 till 6pm on the boat tusker, stan was very helpfull in me catching this fish. used a tiny bait of mackerel and couaght 1 fish all day and what a nice one it was,my first cod. 8pound 8 ounces

Arrived @ 20:30hrs. There were aleady 7 people fishing. It was very cold with a Northerly breeze, lots of fog. Caught 2 whiting after 1st cast. Only got two more over next two hours. Night almost spoilt by scallies in two top of range cars making noise and chucking bottles. NB: Fellow anglers, please take your rubbish and crap home with you or we will lose our fishing marks. a fishy tale got to rail at 6 35am fishing by 6 45 first cast 2 dabs then not a snif for 1hr bell went and i banged in to it o no i think its plastick bag untill it cum to the surfice it was my first cod o god it was big had to handball it up the wall got it to the top went to grab it it flaped and snaped my line at a knot i went to grab it but only kiked it and in it went it was 6/7 lbs but i was allalone went on had 7 whitting mabe nexttime ha ha

Fished from 3pm - 7pm. Very quiet for first two hours with only one rockling landed then the whiting arrived. Nothing of any size but plenty of fish. Ended up without about fifteen. Big bait on second rod hoping for rays or cod just fed the crabs.

Fished from 9-45 to 13-45 what a great day, right from the first cast my mate in for only two minutes and a nice whitting, then a couple of flounder, lots of small codling, then my first good whitting 14oz, more whitting and small codling, half an hour before high tide put penal rig out about 100yrds and dropped two hook pater twenty foot from the wall with size one hooks, with small bait trying for more flatties, after a couple of minutes the rod knocked a couple of times and then went to town, grabbed hold of the rod lifted it but no weight reeled in a bit more then new something good on, my mate grabbed my line and pulled up my catch, a nice cod weighing 3lb 5oz my first good cod on the wall this year, if the fish had shaken its head what a different story, finished the day with more whitting and small codling between the two of us at least twenty five fish, WHAT A GREAT DAY. PS Matt Grey (SSA) and his missus had the cod for tea.

Fished two hours befor and one after (6am till 9am), river flat till tide turned, then wind got up, no one fishing near, one small boat on river, the fishing was good, from first cast in the water, knocks straight away, first fish flounder about 8oz, next bit two more flounder both slightly smaller, total catch, six flat fish and six whiting all in size, one rockling, and the smallest codling i have ever caught, all fish bar one caught on size one hook long shank, black lug tipped with squid, tried squid on its own and nothing doing, all in all good finish to the end of the year. Still waiting for my first big cod from the shore.

fished 4 hrs up to high, for six small whiting and a dose of crabs...... need some colder weather, mother nature seems to have lost her calender...... Tried the new 'lazy baits' lug, crabs and whiting seem to like them, but still not convinced they were better than the cheaper frozen lug.

Fished today from 12:00 midday. Met a nice guy called Duggie, very helpful and gave loads of tips. My mates from St Helens Sea Angling Club, John and Lee and Les fished off Mersey Lass this morning. "I missed the boat" I caught 5 whiting, Duggie had two flatties some whiting and a 1lb and 1/2 codling. Guy next to me caught two whiting. Message for lucky John....."hope you found your way back to St Helens." Weather seemed a bit mild, the Mersey was like a millpond. Enjoyable day's fishing apart from somepne in a boat cruising parallel to the wall. Tight lines everyone, see you all on the dock next week.

fished here on monday daytime in the fog, caught 9 whiting and one flatty in 2 hours high tide, nearly lost one rod to the muppets in the rubber dingy they snapped my line then done the same to someone else further down,i couldnt see him for the fog but i shure heard him swearing his head off f........g b........s hey you b...... f...off i couldnt stop laughing, any way as for the bait i was watching 3 11 year old kids fishing the day before in the marina and thought there not going to catch nothing there ,boy was i wrong they caught 16 coddlings in half hour ,i asked what bait they were using and they said kipper from the kwikky la, its boss mate, you buy it frozen la you know ,i couldnt stop laughing ,so now i say yippee to the kwikky , and skipper try the kipper . try it?

Fished from 5.45 ish til 10pm, a pretty good night loads of whiting some around the one and half pound mark, a few small codling, highlight for me was a thornie of about 4lb, first from this location. Fished with a couple of lads from Halton SAC, thanks to Scott for doing the neccessary with my drop net.

HW was at 2146 HT 8.95 M. I fished from half five to about 2215. Caught one small whiting. In general waste of bait! Some talk of small under size Coddling coming from the lads who were fishing the other side of the Marina Lock Gates. Police arrived down not to move on some kids making a disturbance but to check out the fishing!! Good Lads.

Fished with my mate Andy about 4 hours up to HW. Plenty of Codling but all quite small, very few Whiting and those that we did catch were a lot smaller than of late. Andy also caught a Dab and I caught a Flounder. Pleasant evenings fishing once the wind dropped. I only saw one decent fish caught, a Codling of about 3lb. Plenty of anglers out.

Despite the fairly big tide (9.2m @10.40am) and stiff breeze (20 mph)when I set out had a very pleasurable mornings fishing. Bait was Lug/Mack.r r Wind, tidal pull and huge amounts of grass (?) making things very difficult when I got there (3hrs to HW) meaning I had to fish close in even with my 210g break-away's but still managed to catch several Codling and Whiting to around 1lb. r r Around 1 1/2 hours before HW the the sun came out, the wind dropped and the tidal run subsided enough for me to be able to fish a bit further out resulting in many more Whiting around the same size (often 2 at a time) though I kept one rod close in and continued to catch Whiting on that too. r r Continued catching on both rods until HW when I caught 2 Whiting on the distance rod of about 1.5lb each.r r Ten minutes after HW the tidal run was such that I decided to give up though a guy who'd set up next to me quite late on was still catching Whiting very close in.r r Lost count of the number of fish but no Dab's for some reason. Given that it was a neap and forecast for a dry but cold night I thought I'd try fishing Mariners from LW (midnight) straight through to HW. r r Hardly a breath of wind, beautiful moonlit night, hard frost, had the place to myself (unsurprisingly) r r Caught a succession of Dabs from the off, some of quite a decent size. Around 1 1/2 hours after LW the Dabs disappeared and I started catching Codling to about 1Lb, when the Codling dried up about an hour later started catching Whiting, again to about 1lb. Towards the end of the session weed and junk on the line became a bit of a problem despite the slack tide. r r Around 2 hours before HW bites started tailing off considerably to the point where I decided to make my way home 1 hour before HW. Final 2 fish a Dab double. r r All in all a most enjoyable nights fishing, 31 fish caught in all on two rods using Lug and Mack. Lug took most of the fish. r r Many thanks to whoever it was who left almost a full pack of Lugworms strewn all over the floor where I happened to set up my stuff (didn't see them at first) Came in very handy. r r Tight Lines everyone, Phil

Nothing of any size this time but met with a couple of lads from another fishing site (Ray and Peter) Ray caught loads more than me including a nice looking Codling- well done Ray.r r Around HW a fishing boat came towards the Marina paralell to the prom and real close (as opposed to the other boats which came in at right angles) Fortunately the boat missed my lines but caught a few other people's and caused some damage.

Got up bright and early with the intention of fishing Llandudno Pier. Whilst stuck in a serious traffic jam on approaches to the Runcorn Bridge I heard on the radio that both the M53 and the A55 had serious accidents on which were likely to take several hours to clear. Decided to come off the main road and head back into Liverpool only to be met with further serious delays on Aigburth Rd. Eventually headed for Mariner's Wharf. Fortunately still 4 hours to HW. r r Started catching Whiting and Codling to about 1/2Kg straight away with the odd Whiting to about 1Kg pretty much a fish a chuck for the first two hours, then a long quiet spell of about an hour without a bite. r r About an hour before high water started catching good sized dabs and Rockling on small baits whilst starting to catch larger Whiting again on bigger baits on the other rod. r r Beautiful morning, good variety of fish, lots of other anglers out. Bait was Mack/Lug and Lug/Squid.

First time out on the Mersey this year.r Fished 2 hours before and about 1/2 hour after high tide (19.00)r Caught small flatty, half a dozen whiting, one 8" cod and one cod of 2 1/2lbs that I took home. Plenty of rods out at the moment.r Have heard the usual stories of 10lb+ cod caught 'last week', who knows ?

me and my mate steve went to the marina and walked over to the other side of the gates,we had 3 good sized flounder four to three hours b4 high tide then we had a good few knocks which only produced a couple of eels,r i think there r plenty of fish out there but u have to use the right rigs and bait. all the fish we caught were on crab and one on lug..caught our first fish 4 hours b4 high tide..one of the flounder was 1 1/2 lb....good hunting guys

Fished the 2nd half of the fish and meet at this venue after the slow start at Arnside, caught a good sized dab as well as small codling and whiting, I have to add that the day although over 12 hours long and with 200 miles covered it was one of the best days out fishing I have had for a long time, thanks to the laughs along the way !!

Fished fromm 3-30pm untill 7-30pm (high water @6-20pm) with Mavrik. LOADS of rods all along the venue, surprising what a report of a couple of decent Cod can do. Plenty of action but all Whiting to us i'm afraid, approx 28-30 between the 2 of us, some a very nice size an all. Fish fell to all baits, no bait in particular outfishing another. A fella a bit further up than us caught a Cod of about 5lbs, so they are about, but not in any numbers so it seems. Good to be out there catching something even if it was'nt what we was after. LJ.
